Chakradance: excerpts of the dance for each chakra

Coming in 2024!

I am preparing to offer Chakradance both as online e-courses, and in person, likely in the form of day or weekend-long retreats. The details are still under discernment. Please click the button here if you are interested in participating in these offerings as they become available. I will reach out to you once I have a clearer sense of the logistics.

What business do you have dancing?

We live in a normative culture. There is a “norm” for everything. How things should be. Ought to be. Indeed, that is where our word “normal” comes from.

Our culture gives us a very clear image of who a “dancer” is. The “dancer” has a specific body type, often a specific cultural and racial profile. And a “dancer” is certainly able-bodied. Lithe, sure-footed, maybe even gymnastically gifted.

Unfortunately, whether we fit this definition or not, most of us internalize these norms. So, when invited to dance, we say, “who? Me? Dance? No way!!”

Chakradance is for ANY BODY!

I would like to invite you - yes, you - to try Chakradance, no matter how you are embodied.

I am especially interested in inviting in those of us who, like me, do not fit the norm of the “dancer.”

In Chakradance, you are invited to move as much, or as little as your body and soul want. Sometimes, you might feel called to make large, sweeping movements. Or stomp your feet on the ground. Crawl on all fours. At other times, you may just want to move your fingers, or your eyebrows. Or sway in place. Or just smile. Any way you are moved, is the “right” way for you.

The goal of Chakradance is to find inner and outer freedom - by releasing energetic blocks - and becoming more fully ourselves!

Chakradance is a moving meditation with deep inward focus

Chakradance is about a deep inward experience. It is a moving meditation, danced with eyes closed or downcast. You may be dancing with others in the room, but you are immersed in your own deep experience. In deep conversation with your own soul.

Chakradance is a healing “movement therapy” modality

Chakradance incorporates chakra-resonant music, guided visualization, intuitive movement and creating mandala art as a way to capture the experience. The modality of Chakradance is undergirded by Jungian psychology. It provides a profound, yet gentle, container for inner change - working at a pace that this comfortable for your soul. As we dance through each of the seven chakras, again and again, we begin to connect with, and eventually release life experiences and narratives that block our energy in any of the chakras.

Come experience the magic!

Heal all that needs healing;
witness yourself unfurl

Dance through, and release, any energetic blocks lodged at any of the chakras

You are cordially invited

Several Eastern spiritual beliefs (Hindu, Buddhist) hold that our body is more than just physical and mental; it is also an energetic system. The energetic centers, or hubs, in the body are called chakras. Chakra is a Sanskrit word that means wheel or circle. There are seven main chakras situated along the spine, from the base of your spine to the crown of your head. Each chakra is associated with specific life issues. When all the chakras are well balanced, we are able to meet whatever life brings to us with greater ease and freedom.
