On February 28, 2026, missiles struck a girls’ primary school in Minab, Iran. The school was called Shajareh Tayyebeh — The Good Tree. This sermon begins there, and asks what the ancient image of the alchemical crucible teaches us about holding unbearable grief without numbing, without drowning, and without losing our humanity.
